It was a dark and stormy morning. Harsh winds beset the city, punishing the rain-drenched visitors searching for solace in a coffee oasis. In the distance, a seagull swept down upon a lone waiting taxi, cawing over the murky din below.
And so reads the 9th grade english class short story introduction for the last vacation blog entry.
Unfortunately, there's not a lot to talk about. It was rainy, so I went to Sport, a cleverly named sports bar/restaurant, and watched the Texans game. The Texans, of course, crushed the hapless Panthers 34-21, playing perhaps their best game ever. I sat at a table with, you guessed it, Ohio State fans watching the Browns-Bengals game. They said they had a great time in Austin last season coming down to watch the UT-OSU game and thought the people were unusually friendly.
After the game, I drove around the Queen Anne neighborhood a bit, in the rain. Queen Anne is just to the north of the Seattle Center, site of Bumbershoot, which seemed like it happened so long ago. It surrounds Queen Anne hill, one of the highest points in the city, and has great views down to Elliott Bay and Puget Sound. Like some of the other neighborhoods I've visited, Queen Anne has interesting shops and restaurants, great architecture, and a real neighborhood buzz. It appears to be a bit more affluent than some of the other areas too.
Then it was time to head to the airport and head home.
So, let's review what we've learned.
The "rain forest" is basically a cleaner Louisiana state park.
Roky Erickson is the man.
Saved by the Bell was somewhat more disturbing than Saved by the Bell-The College Years.
Bremerton is a time vortex, and Concrete has three-day rejuvenative powers.
And if you don't have anything to talk about from your vacation, you can just talk about some old movie or TV show or ball game or some celebrity happening instead.
Oh, and I forgot to mention, at the Apple Market in Concrete, in the meat counter, was a wrapped meat loaf looking product labelled "meat." Not any particular kind of meat, like "cow meat" or "zebra meat" or "penguin meat," just "meat." It was kind of salmon-colored and slightly grayish at the edges. Reminds me of the mystery meat contest in Meatballs ("the winner...is Jeffrey Corbin, who guessed 'some kind of beef.'").
That does it for the blog for awhile. I'm a bit blogged out. But I have lots of ideas for more entries with mildly amusing quips and incessant pessimism.
Hope the three or so of you who've been reading along have enjoyed it. Its been like having you along, without having to pay your expenses or fight with you about what to do.

Enjoy your trip home. I would have loved to go, but I would have dragged you to Uwajimaya to look for new books. *the battle ensues*
