Birdie Philpot Reeder

For those of you who may be wondering, I haven't been posting lately because my mother unexpectedly passed away on October 15th. I've been busy attending to those matters ever since. Anyone who wants to view the web page containing her biographical information, some photos, and a guest book with reader messages, can access it at this link, and type "Birdie Reeder" at the prompt on the left hand side. I hope that those of you with "Miss Birdie" stories will contact me in time and share them with us or post them on that guest book.

My family really appreciates all the concern and support that so many of our friends and family members have given us. Your prayers have comforted us greatly. We had some vague idea that people liked Mom, but I don't think we truly knew just how many people deeply loved her until last week when we were literally deluged with support and encouragement from so many. Her funeral, on a Friday morning, absolutely packed the church. Needless to say, we are very grateful.

Back to the usual fun in the near future, I promise.

That's a beautiful picture. Is that tiny bebe you? I was so sorry to hear your mother had passed--it's just one of the suckiest moments in life, and there's really not much you can do about it. That your mother was well-loved is no surprise to me. Raising a swell son like you is certainly proof she was swell herself, and the fact she was known as "Birdie" just ices the cake on "great lady."

If there's one thing death can teach us it's "don't wait." I just got back from a week in East Texas because my stepmother passed (also suddenly). Yeah, it sucked, especially for my dad. That event just cemented that my decision to uproot my family and bring them home was the right thing to do. The only irreplaceable things in life are people. Maybe I forgot that after Mother died, or maybe I thought there was "time." At any rate, I'm hoping I can make the most of proximity and spend time with irreplaceables. *winks*
