A word on the lineup of links. I Want to Dance With, Here's Tom and Letters are, respectively, the blogs of my friend Ashley, and my cousins Tom and Tiffane.
Cajun and Louisiana Links is a very comprehensive source of all things Louisiana, maintained by the city of Eunice, La., home of KBON radio and the Rendez-vous des Cajun radio show (streamed on KRVS). Allons danser! Jazz Fest site is obviously for the NOLA festival. New Orleans indisputably has had two major influences on the world: music and food. The festival has both incredible music and delicious local food. Something everyone should do at least once in life (a topic for a future list post).
Roadfood lists by state great local (non-chain) restaurants, generally of the diner/hole in the wall variety. Entries for all 50 states, and readers can nominate restaurants and comments on the listed restaurants. In that vein, Dining Out with Rob Balon is the site of the food critic for KLBJ-AM here in the PRA (People's Republic of Austin). Its pretty current and has many useful groupings, as well as pdfs of lots of the restaurants' current menus.
Pete Townshend, is of course, Pete's blog.
The Cherrywood NA entry actually is quite interesting. They maintain a web forum listing various service providers (e.g. plumbers, movers, mechanics, etc.) that their members have used. Gives feedback on whether they were good or bad (not unlike Santa's list).
Little Steven's Underground Garage is a syndicated radio show hosted weekly by Little Steven VanZandt, member of the E Street Band and the Sopranos cast. Celebrates American-style garage rock, i.e. music where people play songs using actual musical instruments. If you think 12 x 5 is the greatest album ever, this is the place for you. The Z Report is Lance Zierlein's blog on the Houston Chronicle web site. Lance was late of KILT-AM in Houston (contract disputes, don't you know), and his blog has excellent and funny sports commentary. I debated whether to put the Statesman's URL on here, but thought it might be convenient. At least its not the Daily Pravda.
And, the PUC's web site. There's a page that compares electric rate offers by the various retail electric providers. Highly important information.
Tonight some guy proposed to his girlfriend at the Astros' game while they were on the "Kiss Cam." Not only did she say no, she threw the ring at him and stormed off. I'll look for video and try to include this in a future post. On the one hand, that's what he gets for a spotlight proposal, but on the other, at least that guy got his ring back.
And for the love of God, the Viva Viagra ads have got to stop now. Who do you call if you experience a painful ad campaign that lasts longer than four hours?

New Orleanians everywhere would appreciate your NOLA endorsement. I thank you. It will be interesting to see what you have to say about the Austin American-Stateman.
