I just learned that Cyd Charisse passed away today. This is a profoundly sad occasion. Those of you who read here know of my high regard for her.
I remember when Gene Kelly died, the most moving of all the news stories about it was on the McNeil-Lehrer Report, where instead of a lot of tedious, factual description of his career, they just played the Singin' in the Rain number from the movie.
